Saguaro Sunset
About this piece
Saguaros against a Sonoran sunset. The light goes out of the sky, the glow sinks to the horizon, and the stars come out over the desert.
Nothing in it moves but the light: the clouds lose the sun from the top of the sky down, the warm rim light leaves the cacti and the cholla, and the sky falls through violet dusk to a deep night blue. Then the stars appear, thickest where the cloud is thin, and twinkle over a desert in dim moonlight.
It runs on its own: sunset to night and back again, a pause at each, over and over.
